Karey Dodge is a lifelong local of Carnelian Bay on Lake Tahoe’s north shore, which she’s called home for over 57 years. Her love of adventure began with a year as an exchange student in the Philippines and led her to live abroad in the remote Alaskan village of Aniak. There, she developed a deep appreciation for Native Alaskan art, particularly Yupik-woven baskets.

Inspired by her travels and deep connection to nature, she is learning the traditional art of basket weaving. Her pieces often include organic and found elements—wood, bark, feathers, antique buttons, beads, and gemstones like lapis, carnelian, and amethyst—each basket a reflection of her story, roots, and reverence for the natural world.
